One of the things I like to take pictures of is vanity license plates on cars. And, I know I’m not the only one on my friends list who does this, so I’ve created a collaborative section of my gallery just for these, viewable here. So, if you’d like to be a part of this, and would like to share your license plate pictures, create an account for the gallery, and then email me with your username
Yay, it’s Christmas time!

UPDATE: Due to the fact that the below-mentioned box of plushies would not fit in my car in any way, we took it to a local thrift store.

As is par for the course, just when things were starting to go pretty damn well, the universe just had to crap all over it.

Whew! This has got to be the busiest weekend I’ve had in awhile. And I need to expedite the new keyboard transition process, so I’ll post about it ![]()

A couple months ago, my ridiculously expensive backlit keyboard bit the dust. For reasons unknown to me, it started losing keypresses, and badly lagging its input. Not that I can blame it, I certainly wasn’t gentle with it, but I would expect an $80 keyboard to last more than 2.5 years. Anyway, since I couldn’t afford an adequate replacement at the time, I plugged my trusty old Dell keyboard back in, the one that carried me through the bulk of my writings without much more than some loss of sensitivity in the right Shift key.
So, I went keyboard shopping a few nights ago. Apparently, backlit keyboards have become much more popular, because there were more than just the previous three options available. I opted for a Saitek with laser-etched weighted keys. Well, it arrived today, and it is HOLY CRAP sexy!
First, one with the uber-cool backlight on (taken in the dark, but you’d never know it by looking at the picture):
And, this was with the backlight off:
I also have some Russian key labels on the way, which glow in the dark to match the keyboard as best as I can. Unfortunately, since this keyboard has its keys labeled in the center, I’m not sure how well they’ll work. So, we’ll have to see
Yay, first snow of the season! Only took us ’til December, but better late than never, right? And now that it’s snowed at least once, Christmas is allowed to come ![]()

So, I know I haven’t kept up with updating this. Since my last real post, the Integra has been looked over twice by the insurance adjuster. The first estimate he gave was a few thousand, not too bad. However, our body shop said that he forgot to include the crumpled rear floor in the estimate. We finally got him to come do the second estimate, and his second estimate said that the car is totalled. They’ll be picking it up Monday morning.
So, mom and I went over tonight to pull out the last of my stuff. I had already pulled the stereo and such, it was just a few things left to get.
And on the way home, it hit me. Out of all the cars I’ve had, this one has been the most reliable by far, and has always been there for me when our other vehicles crapped out. I know cars don’t have emotions, but I’m in tears as I type this thinking about all the times I drove the hell out of it, all the times I swore I’d sell it and get something else, and it just kept right along like a faithful companion, always by my side.
I never really appreciated it until today, and it pains me to think of it sitting in a junkyard somewhere. Feels like I’ve lost a family member.
Farewell, my beauty.
