Manhunt/Car Chase Nearby

Harrisonburg Police arrested a man who they say led them on a car chase, wrecked his car, and then took off on foot.

A black Mercedes, owned by the suspect, hit an embankment and crashed after leading police on a brief car chase through Liberty Square around midnight. The suspect took off running, leaving two passengers in the car.

One of the passengers was taken to Rockinghman Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Police arrested the suspect Earl Legg Junior Saturday afternoon.

Legg faces felony hit and run and eluding.he is also charged with reckless driving and driving on a revoked license.

I don’t have much to say about this article, except that it practically happened in my backyard! I heard tires screeching from my office, looked out and saw blue lights, and grabbed my scanner. The suspect fled on foot, and they suspected he was hiding in some nearby apartments. They were even talking about doing a house-to-house search for the guy.

I’d love to know where they found him, because they were having a heck of a time locating him last night with three regular officers, a K9 officer and dog, two bicycle cops, and random neighbourhood residents like me watching from fixed positions.
