Kate Mulgrew On Broadway

I don’t normally make posts while I’m travelling, especially when I don’t have my own computer handy, but I had to share this. We saw a play on Broadway tonight, Equus, and to my surprise, Kate Mulgrew was in it, with a pretty big role! That totally made my night, it was so great! She’s one of my all-time favourite actresses, not just because she was my favourite Star Trek captain, but because she’s incredibly talented, and can portray a wide variety of characters well.

Unfortunately, she didn’t come out the front door to sign autographs, but the fact that I had the chance to see her in a live show (something I’ve often dreamed about, but that I never thought I’d do) was definitely on the list of “Greatest Life Experiences”.

This is the one with ‘Harry Potter’, or a different lead now?
And definately lucky of you to get to see it. I have yet to see that play, but would love to.

A “family trip” to see Equus??? Did your mother cover your eyes when the naked boy came on stage? :)
Uggg, Capt. Janeway was in it? And you like her? Icky! I think she should have stopped while she was doing daytime soap operas! :)
Seeing Daniel Radcliffe naked and prancing around on stage with a live horse would definitely have taken my mind off of Capt. Janeway though! *woof* I had no idea he came across the pond to star in it here. Yikes, tickets do look expensive though. :(
Hmm, looking at his pics, I wonder if he gets naked with a real horse in the Broadway production or if he keeps his pants on while riding a guy with some vaguely horse like contraption on his head? :( What a ripoff if the later is true. :(

I’m not one for plays, but if it involves a nekkid Daniel Radcliffe riding around on stage on a horse… oh hell yeah!!! Hot!

Oh, and for the $0.69 a minute thing, that is EXPENSIVE! Hacking is cheaper, or getting a Blackberry so you can connect it to your laptop and use it as a modem and get speeds up to 128 kbps.

But still… I wish I got to see that… shit. Now I’m sad.

    1. I was too tired to bypass security on the public terminal I was using, which would have been difficult anyway.
    2. Getting a Blackberry for a one-time trip is kinda silly (plus, I hate the Blackberry)
    3. If I had my laptop, it wouldn’t have been an issue anyway, because our hotel had free wi-fi. Since part of the plan for this trip involved exploring New York for the 12 hours between when we checked out of the hotel and when our bus picked us up today (a bad idea, btw), hauling my heavy-ass laptop around Manhattan wasn’t a very appealing idea :-P
So, yes, $0.69/minute to use a computer is ridiculously expensive. But, it was worth ~$15 to have a chance to check my email and a few other things without having to leave our hotel, and without having to wander Newark or go back across the river to New York at 2am :-P
