West Virginia Sunset
May 19, 2007This series was taken from one of the highest mountain peaks in the region, less than 1 mile from the Virginia-West Virginia border. Due to the storm blowing in from the west (visible in the last image), these didn't turn out quite like I wanted, but I'm still pleased with them. The incoming cold front made this a very uncomfortable photoshoot, though, it felt like a hurricane toward the end and I could barely feel my shutter finger when I was finished.
While on another photo expedition in this area, I decided to head up to this same peak to catch the sunset. This time, I brought my tripod, and I was able to use longer exposure timings. The cloud cover was far different on this trip, as well, and these were the result.
